New Year, Still Here
You may have thought I forgot about my blog. But here I am still, just feeling a little more settled into life here in AZ and ready to find my old voice, mixed with a new voice.
I could write about the old. Our last year was moving. And as much as other stuff happened, the move happened throughout it all. The neighbors we get to start over with, where to put Christmas decorations, where to put everything, finding styles and situations that work for us- it all happens behind the scenes because we moved. And this time for reals. God's Spirit told me that we are supposed to be in this house and although that happened 10 months ago, I am holding onto to the Lord's vision. I don't see and I don't want to see all that He does. I just trust He knows me, my family and my needs and He is taking care of all of us. I like relaxing into that thought.
So here we are in a new year. And when they say moving in takes a year, they are not lying. But things so far are good. Friends we are making, family close by, Bryan's work situation, schools for kids, the new house- it's all good stuff.
So what's up currently at our place?
Bryan is having a birthday! Monday he turns 36. Yep- it's real, we get old. He partied with his Utah family while were there over Christmas break. Here we are going on a date and eating yummy food. :) His work is doing awesome- so many good employees, the monthly visits back to Utah aren't his favorite but they are working for now. He loves electronics and got a few this last month. His dreams are getting a new car and new TV this year. He's into biking and yoga. And he's coaching Emily's Odyssey of the Mind team which is a fabulous learning experience for everyone.
Maegan- I am running Ragnar. February 20-21 I am embarking on my 4th Ragnar running relay adventure. 200 miles, 12 runners and 2 vans= 30+ hours on the road for a crazy two days. We are the ninja turtles team. I am into running with some great ladies a few times a week. I also am into being at schools with volunteering at Emily's class, working with a math group with Ashley, working in a tutoring room and teaching Aaron with Joyschool. Everyone is happy in their schools and so it makes all the driving around worth it. I am also into yoga, a ballet/tap/jazz dance class, two book clubs and am teaching the 4-year-olds in church, which is Aaron's class.
Emily's life is busy with Odyssey of the Mind (O.M.), 4th grade with Mrs. Wilson, and in band playing trumpet. She dreams of the day where she could read books and play Pokemon cards all day. She seems to find some time for jumping on the trampoline and doing some cooking too. She loves imagining. She got an American Girl doll house for Christmas and was in heaven. Her favorite day of the week is Tuesday where she gets to go to band, have early-out day at school, followed by a couple hours of O.M. with her friends. She likes her activity days church class and will start playing flag football soon.
Ashley is a second grader! She's in class with Ms. Bedford, her grandma- yippee! She likes playing Pokemon, drawing, and reading. She is in Brownies and will start selling girl scout cookies next week. Yum and fun! She also takes piano lessons from our friend Kristi Lee and had fun doing some recitals last year. She recently picked to play a new sport- flag football and the season will start in a couple weeks. She got a Barbie doll house for Christmas and was in heaven. Ashley can do some fun tricks on the tramp and found out that swimming in January is really cold.
Aaron is in two preschools this year! He is gone two mornings a week with Joyschool- a mom taught preschool group with 4 other friends. He's gone two afternoons a week at Mrs. Jackson's Preschool too and having a ball. He is a happy snuggly guy who prefers sleeping in mom and dad's bed. He got transformers for Christmas and loves them. He's into treats, being a tease, and drawing interesting shapes and turning them into pictures. He learned how to play Pit over the break and likes being included in the big guys' games. Aaron loves to be read to and is doing a great job learning how to read already. He is getting a new anti-finger-sucking glove in the mail soon and isn't really looking forward to wearing it.

The finer details of moving in
6 days in Tucson and so far- 12 piles of javelina pig poop near my front door, 106 degrees, live scorpion in box in garage, live scorpion in the middle of my kitchen floor, tarantula right by Ashley's new school front door, ran over a half alive rat on the road (it's injured rodent face looked at me right before my suv 'bore down'), and the last straw is just now as I was scooping up leaves looked down and some 'leaves' that had fallen out of my gloves were by my bare foot- dead pack rat/mouse. And we have a pack rat living in our pool's water feature. EWW!!!!
So last night we caught the pack rat (a large mouselike body) with my dad's live cage trap. The kids were excited to see it this morning and Emily and Aaron fed 'our new pet' some bread. Then later Aaron wanted to show our pet around the pool and yard. He carried it around for a while, talking to it and was watching it with fascination while 'it's tummy was going in and out quickly mom. It's going to have a baby!' Thankfully it didn't have a baby in the trap but we found it dead soon after. Whether it was death by over-heat or over-love it is uncertain but hopefully we don't catch another one tonight. I'm not sure I can handle 3 dead mice bodies in one week. Happy that the garbage man comes tomorrow.
On the other hand, awesome meteor showers this weekend. I saw a couple, Bryan saw 5 and then after a middle of the night wake up, Emily and I watched a few.

We are headed to San Diego in two weeks for my cousin's wedding. My mom, Garrett, Carlie and her family are all coming and we will see Wes too. Bryan leaves Wed. for Utah and will be there for 3 days with Jono.
On Saturday night we went downtown for 2nd Saturday in Tucson. They have one street blocked off and have live bands (5-8 different groups), food vendors, and lots of jewelry vendors too. We ate crepes & burritos, I danced to a drum band, saw two of my old high school teachers, hung out with my brother and his date and my dad and Marlene. Good fun.
Third day of school- had two happy excited girls. Also one happy mom because Emily gets to ride the bus so I don't have to drive two girls to school every day. Aaron starts Joyschool next week with 4 other kids- good times.

Moving In, (part 2)
We arrived safely in our new home today around 4pm, August 2nd. On our way driving in we had our first monsoon of the year- rain for a bit, cloudy, foggy, lightening, rainy and it was all over in 10 minutes or so.
We stopped at Picacho Peak gas station (30 mins away) for our last potty stop of our trip. The kids got to experience the Sonoran desert like they hadn't in a while- Aaron and I explored a wash, saw a lizard and he learned about prickly pear cactus and Emily found & collected mesquite tree beans to plant at home.
I have so many emotions that this trip to AZ is like the move I did in the summer of 1997 with my family. I left people and places I loved and left the green and moved south in some intense heat. My heart was shattered at age 16. My heart has done a lot of growing since then but it's still not easy.
So guess who I got to talk to on my way down? Two dear friends that I made while I was in Tucson in 1997- Andrea and Casper. I really don't think that was a coincidence that they both called today, especially considering that I haven't talked to either one in a long while. But they both are my good friends and though I left my precious Spokane, WA friends and life, I would never have known either of them. So, again proof that change is good- see?
My heart is feeling so many things today and each one isn't exactly fun. Apprehensive (Really, we just did this? okay...), stumped (Where is the best place for ____?), lonely (Bryan and mom don't want to hear my saying this is hard, unsure, etc so who can listen?), hard (Bryan sprained his wrist- lifting a lot won't be easy, sweaty unloading trailer at 11pm- is tomorrow going to be cooler? HA), hopeful (Schools for girls will work themselves out soon- right?), anxious (Am I really supposed to be here? why isn't this feeling great yet?), confused (Whose blue sheets are these and why do I have them? Where is the best room for my Aar bear boy to sleep in?)
My Happys of Today: Dinner at my mom's was so fabulous- homemade everything good and nothing tastes as good as when mom makes it. Spaghetti, sauce with veggies from her garden, bread, salad, watermelon, cooked carrots & ice cream.
The kids were having a ball- in the car, at our house running around, at my moms, making up a new prince and princess game, finding their old toys and things.
Bryan and I working together. Trying to listen & respect each others ideas while not keeping quiet either. I think it's good. He's a good ying to my yang. Even though it's not easy a lot, it's good.
When I see how much got done already- yay us. We did good.
That I made an effort to have a thank you prayer when we got here as a group and even though Bryan whined about my style, we did it.
My dad and his crew put all our furniture in already. I can't even believe what a huge blessing that is. And Marlene cleaned everything too. She rocks.
The pool isn't icky so we can swim in it tomorrow! My mom is coming back over to do lifeguard duty all day while Bry and I unpack everything. So nice.
And then Sunday is Haven's baby blessing and mom's b-day party so we get to see more family. And I think we're doing dinner at Marlene's tomorrow too. So many good family times already! Oh yea, I do like it here.
I'm off to get ready for bed where I will wake up Bry b/c the new bathroom doesn't have a door- sorry baby. But the alarm clock is plugged in and I unpacked one suitcase so I have clean clothes for tomorrow- yay!

Moving part 1
I'm going to attempt a documentary of our move to Tucson in hopes to capture my heart this adventure begins to unfold.
August 1, 2013- Moving Day. There are SO many things go into moving. There's the practical side- how to get yourselves & stuff to the new place, what to bring, what to throw away, what to leave behind and how to get it all packed up in the time remaining. Then there's the emotional side of saying goodbye to people and places and starting your heart ready to say hello to new people and places.
I guess this all started when I decided to let the Lord guide my life and be my light.
Practically it started a while ago as we left Tucson in May 2011, thinking we'd come back but not really sure when. Many discussions with Bryan and we decided to stay in Utah for a while longer than we first planned and then for the whole 2012-13 school year. I remember in April 2013 out on a date with Bryan discussing where kids would go to school next year and thinking AZ would be it. A couple months later I remember thinking that was pointless to move because I was happy where I was at in Utah and I realize that happy is a state of mind not a place and that I wouldn't be any happier than I was right then. Happy with my neighbors and friends, the kids' schools, with some family close by and with our house. I felt I emotionally went back to the drawing board about whether moving to Tucson again was a good idea.
One Sunday in June or July I was at the sink doing dishes and felt the Lord speak peace to my heart about going to Tucson. I knew it was from the Lord because His Spirit spoke to me as only God can- a flood of thoughts all at the same time with a really good feeling too. The two main ideas I took away were from it were "It's going to be an adventure" and "Put your faith and trust in Me". After that experience I was ready to pack up and move that day. It filled me with hope, being seen by the One who wants all happiness and good things for me and my family and I was feeling ready to jump into that new adventure.
So then came the start of planning the details. Going through the basement storage boxes and finding what was in all of them, decided who would stay in our house while we were gone (selling was not even discussed really because Eastpointe is sure our house and we were not ready to give it up yet).
But where I had the hardest part was staying as convicted to that feeling from God along the way. We lived away in AZ for a year but I guess I had reserved part of my heart for my home in Utah the whole time. This time we are leaving it feels like I am not leaving my heart in UT and goodbyes are more for reals. (Yes I just said 'for reals', does that mean Utah is coming with me?)
We moved to Eastpointe in July 2006, when Ash was 4 months old, Emily had just turned two. That same summer there were many other houses being bought in the neighborhood and together we all created a new place. I feel like us leaving is me breaking up a great thing we all had together- a community, my church support. my family, my everything. Not fun. Don't want to go.
Side note, right now we are driving through Phoenix- 108 degrees. My undies feel sticky just thinking about it. 1 1/2 hours until we get to our new house.
I had a great goodbye to Utah. After we were all packed up, all 5 of us walked through rooms in our house and remembered things that we had done in each room. The kids only lasted 3 rooms before they were so hyper they went to go jump on the couches so I suggested we all go on the trampoline for one last family jump session. We jumped for a few minutes, took a few pictures in front our house and then took off around 12. I had said goodbye to many friends before then too.

Spring Break Road Trip
In our family we do a LOT of road tripping. This time was to California for spring break to see the beach , Grandma Judy, Mickey Mouse's house and Wes & Kristen.
The beach was fun for Ash & I while we huddled under the blanket to keep warm and fun for dad, Aaron and Emily while they built a huge sand castle and all got pretty dirty! Grandma's house was our main hang out while there and we ate yummy things and drank lots of fresh OJ. Lots of toys and comfy beds too. Thanks again Grandma!
Mickey Mouse is always a good time. The kids and Bryan started not long after the parks opened. I joined them at noon and we were some of the last to leave. It was busy as it was spring break for a lot of people but plenty of shows and fun to keep all happy. Wes and Kristen (and dogs) let us crash at their place one night and we had a good time at pizza dinner and playing at the park. They recently announced they are having twins and we are so excited for them.
This road trip we didn't bring the DVD player and the kids did great with lots of books, a car sound tester and an occasion dad's phone show to keep things as peaceful as possible.

Alpine Loop
Bryan and I drove the Alpine Loop route when we were dating in 2001. We went again back 2007 and loved the rocks in the river and the beautiful fall colors. We've talked about going back b/c it was so beautiful to see all the aspen's in bright fall colors. This year we decided to go this year early so we wouldn't miss it. Oops, we missed it-his time too early. We did see several leaves starting to change, had a fun short hike, ate pb&j sandwiches and carrots for dinner and took some fun pics.
More summer fun
Girl Tea Party
June
From left to right- Jeni, Sarah, Emily, Maegan, Ashley. We went to Gardner Village for a very lovely dolly and me tea party. The treats and drinks were bite size and scrumptious and the dolls got cute dolly sized treats to take home too. We got to put on hats & aprons while there. Truly girlish, totally fun.
Emily's Friend B-day Party
Thursday July 19th
As uncle Garrett was graduating on Emily's 8th b-day, we did her friend party the day before. She wanted glasses party (mostly b/c she planned the theme right after she got her new eyeglasses), so we planned drinking glasses & sunglasses fun. Maddie, Sarah and Jeni came.
Pin the glasses on the face.
Heart shaped glasses cake with sprinkles around the edge getting snitched by the birthday girl. She got a magic set for a present the girls all loved putting on a magic show.
On her actual birthday she woke up to breakfast crepes in bed, surrounded by 8 or so family members who were in town for baptism/graduation. She was loving all the attention. Until it came time to eat and then it was too much as my siblings too it overboard- so funny!Baptism Day
July 21st Saturday
The whole beautiful crew (except Moultries)
Our fab five
Ashley loses a tooth
July 29th
She pulled this tooth out by herself. It took four days and lots of patience and bribes by mom. Her other top tooth came out a few weeks later with a lot less drama.Sunday Cereal
Our Hanks family tradition of eating junk food cereal on Sunday morning. I started it when Bryan was trying out new Sunday habits/ beliefs and I thought of a way to make Sunday mornings more fun. This is our new organic junk food so not as junky as we've had before. Recently I've switched a lot of our foods to more natural and fresh which means less snack foods around, which means if I leave Sunday cereal in the pantry Bryan will eat it all before the week is up. So I now hide these boxes so we don't have sad kids.
Catching up: Summer fun
Been a long lonely, lonely time
So many things have happened! Best news of my night is that we DO have a cable to connect our camera to the computer and now I can share all our happenings.
Ashley's Kindergarden Graduation
May 23
(Emily was at the snack table.) Grandpa took the picture. Her cute butterfly shirt was made with her painted hand-prints. We loved Mrs. Wilson. We loved Ms. Bedford too of course.Houseboat Trip to Lake Powell
May 27-29
Dance show on the top deck by the 3 ladies. Lots of digging in the sand by the 2 men. Lots of fam came out- Gpa David & Marlene (caught some fish, cleaned up shards of glass on carpet from wind storm that broke lots of dishes), Garrett & friend Jenna (did some power kiting which was highly entertaining on sand and on boat), Cameron & Spencer (lots of water sport fun, sculpted a sand goon), Grammy (kept us fed & organized, la cap-ee-tahn), Kade, Carlie and Cedar (drove the boat during major water fight, kept us fairly quiet, sucked bracelets), and us (Aaron didn't drown!, all loved tubing or wakeboarding & chillin).
Aaron's 3rd Birthday
June 5
Eating cupcakes with Toy Story /Buzz Lightyear ring toppers. We had over Isaiah, David and Jonathan and had a lunch b-day party. Perfect party for our little man.

Cute Boy Words
Aaron and I read "If you Give a Pig a Pancake" for the first time today. It's about a pig who gets a pancake, then syrup, then a bath and then a ducky bath toy, packs a suitcase...
We read that story this morning around 10am. Around 4pm he and I were sitting in the bathroom together (a very common occurrence in our house these days). Part of our conversation went like this-
Aaron: "Mom, the pig turns into a mil-li-tion."
Me: (I am quiet and smiling, racking my brain for what on earth he could be talking about)
Aaron: "Yea, the pig is a millition and he does a magic trick and turns himself into a duck."
Me: (I smile for reals because I know now he is talking about a magician)
Aaron: "Like the one at daddy's work, the pig turns into a duck, and then a puppy and then and alligator."
Me: And then it turned into some sort of combo of the following statements and questions: How do you clean yourself, yes shake shake, wipe, flush, close the lid, to the sink, don't pick up your car/airplane/motorcycle yet b/c your hands aren't clean, please turn on the water, with soap, wash all the bubbles off, don't put your hands in more bubbles, water turned off, dry hands, put towel back up, are your undies wet, okay put on undies, put on pants, no we haven't zipped up yet you can't go, is the bathroom floor cleaned up, please put your books and toys away, turn off the light... (30 mins later we are moving on in our day)
My take away- The boy is a crazy rememberer of the past, and associater with the present. At Bryan's work party back in June there was a magician. He was amazed and we talked about it for a couple of weeks. (In the show there was nothing of pigs, ducks, or any other animals). And the book makes a comment that because the pig was holding the rubber ducky he missed his family on the farm. And somehow that all got converted into 'the pig is a milition.'
Side note- We have been potty training now for 4 weeks. He did great for a couple of weeks and the last two weeks have been lots of wetting himself. Pull-ups again?
We read that story this morning around 10am. Around 4pm he and I were sitting in the bathroom together (a very common occurrence in our house these days). Part of our conversation went like this-
Aaron: "Mom, the pig turns into a mil-li-tion."
Me: (I am quiet and smiling, racking my brain for what on earth he could be talking about)
Aaron: "Yea, the pig is a millition and he does a magic trick and turns himself into a duck."
Me: (I smile for reals because I know now he is talking about a magician)

Puttng vs. Pudding
Conversation between my three year old Aaron and myself a few minutes ago on the stairs.
Me: "Come upstairs and we'll eat some pudding."
A: What are we putting?
M: Huh? Oh! I see- putting. Aaron there are two kinds of putting. One kind is putting- like putting your toys away. And the other kind is a treat- pudding.
A: I don't want to put my toys away. That's three kinds of putting. I want to get treats!

Family Chain
Today I re-found this paper chain hung in my closet and finally decided to read all the names on it. The girls made this a month or two ago. I remember vaguely the discussion going as follows:
Emily: I wrote all the names for our family.
Ashley: We need more names to make a longer chain.
Emily: Okay.
In the end here's what our family looks like
Ashley--Ginger (the hores)--Emily--Ashley Rose--Jenny E.-- Jenny A.--Dash the engine--Thomas the engine--Maegan--Dad (Bryan)--Bikealeena--littl moovr--Scoody Scooses (Princess)--Scoody--Aaron--Anna (the car)
Interpretation: Jenny E and Jenny A are the twin American Girl dolls belonging to the Em & Ash, Ashley Rose is the newest American Girl doll with Ginger her horse, Scoody is Emily's scooter, Scoody Scooses I assume is Ashley's scooter, Dash & Thomas were Aaron's newest trains at the time, and Anna is the name of our van. Bike-a-leena and little mover are new to me, but why not join the family? We could use some more names on the family chain.

Today my brain is working on-
My consuming fear for the last two days- inadequacy. Lots of areas: mother to Emily, mess control of my house, as a good wife, in my calling at church, school next year, etc.
The good news- God is mindful. He is in control. I can trust Him. After a 2 hour pondering session with Him last night, I felt less consumed and more open and aware.
Tender mercies I appreciated- texts from a friend letting me see that I am not forgotten, bunnies on a trail reminding me that God numbers all His creations, a listening husband, a counseling session set up for today made a week ago, Moroni 7 (hope and faith), and a running partner who listened and supported.
Thanks Lord. I don't feel so alone when I see you around.
Saturday I was praising His name- finding His work in my life; going from "life is pretty good" to "life is great!" just because I knew He was guiding me. I found Him in the temple and rejoiced. Sunday night- wham-o. Is that what my future holds? More times of finding such joy in the Lord and then He says you are ready for more. I did get a good couple weeks of rejoicing in the Lord before the wham-o. I guess He's finding out how deep I go. Opening me to empathy, more truths. An understanding of the quote by Joseph Smith "...that doesn't require the sacrifice of all things, will never produce the faith necessary..." Now that I write that down, I realize that's a pretty messed up view of a loving God. He's going to make it hurt the worst? But oh yeah- it's for my own good. Okay so if I focus on that then I can trust Him again.
Come on self- look on the bright side. Serve others. From a Jackie Chan movie I watched years ago Rush Hour, the guy's name was Kit; which stood for Keep It Together and he chanted that over and over when times were hard. That will be my mantra for the morning as I deal with a sick baby boy and my fears "Keep it together, keep it together." And be praying for the Lord to show me. Teach me. Help me find the way to Him.

Love quotes
"The cross was not the end. It was the beginning of all things being made new. It was the climax of the story, not its ending. And if the cross was the climax, the empty tomb was the denouement of it all.
I just like the word. Denouement. Pronounced day-nu-mah. It is a literary term meaning the solution of the mystery, the outcome, the end result, the sequence following the climax of a drama where resolution is reached. In the case of the resurrection story it is the point when Jesus steps out of the tomb to leave death an empty grave.
The first walk with God in the garden was a walk of intimacy. Adam and God. Until the choice was made that would plunge creation into chaos. Next time we read of God the Son walking in the garden, it was a walk of humility. The will that was lost, given away to evil, by the first Adam was regained by the Second in an agonizing "not my will but Yours be done." {How many times do I fight for my will when His is better, always infinitely better?}
And then Jesus walked out of the tomb into another garden in victory so that we could be embraced by Him for eternity. And that eternity starts now. And so we are sent out in authority to walk the land with Him, the story of the cross written on our hearts, us no longer alive in ourselves but yet bursting with His Life, with freedom and all that is good and true and Him.
This resurrection journey: intimacy, humility, victory, eternity, authority all interwoven expressions of His matchless, endless grace. May I walk these paths with Him everyday.
I want my life to be a signpost of heaven. Like the ancient Celtic crosses that dotted the landscape in the days of Columba and Patrick. These were not symbols of an ultimatum but rather an invitation. Come walk with us and meet the ever-present, always-good God who deeply, intimately loves you. Who numbers your hairs and knows your rising and sitting before you do.
Come aside and learn of the story. The plot, the mystery, the climax and yes the denouement of the ages we live and breathe and move in. HE is the fulfillment of all the promises and in Him all things hold together. Even our stories, even our lives. His glory seeping out through surrendered vessels to transform a broken creation crying out for sons and daughters of God fully manifested, fully made known.
May I be one of these. The cross-story etched in my heart, His resurrection glory circumscribing, transforming my dust, and even the world around me as I walk with Him, stepping lightly but boldly in love on fragmented lands that they may become whole, running to the margins, seeing the unseen, hearing the voiceless cries in the night, following this wild unpaved road with One Who is not at all tame or safe, but in all ways good."

QUENTIN L. COOK: We rejoice in the Lord’s assurance that He will stand by us and give us guidance and direction. The Holy Ghost testifies to our hearts that we have a loving Father in Heaven,
HENRY B. EYRING We never need to feel that we are alone or unloved in the Lord’s service because we never are. We can feel the love of God. The Savior has promised angels on our left and our right to bear us up. And He always keeps His word.
PAUL E. KOELLIKER The feeling of love from our Heavenly Father is like a gravitational pull from heaven. As we remove the distractions that pull us toward the world and exercise our agency to seek Him, we open our hearts to a celestial force which draws us toward Him. Nephi described its impact as “even unto the consuming of [his] flesh” This same power of love caused Alma to sing a “song of redeeming love”. It touched Mormon in such a way that he counseled us to “pray … with all the energy of [our] heart” that we might be filled with His love.
Both modern and ancient scripture are full of reminders of Heavenly Father’s eternal love for His children. I am confident that our Heavenly Father’s arms are constantly extended, ever ready to embrace each one of us and say to each one with that quiet, piercing voice, “I love you.”
Because of the heaven-designed pattern of the family, we more fully understand how our Heavenly Father truly loves each of us equally and fully.

Week & Weekend
Emily is home sick with a cold this week with a fever, sneezing & sniffly nose and had an earache from sinus pressure at one point too. Lots of half used kleenex around the house, but she's pretty happy about lots of reading time.
The girls are working so sweetly together on Ashley's birthday invitations. Emily typed the info while Ash supervised. Ash is drawing with markers on one side of the cover while Emily is painting on the other side. They are each loving their art and they are singing a duet with lots of compliments and working togetherness. Maybe homeschool could work. Maybe.
Aaron is sick with an ear infection and will be headed to the Dr's in a little bit. Tonight we'll be headed to a bonfire with my mom's ward. Tomorrow is 2 soccer games back to back, friend's party for Ash, lunch field trip to Indian food for Em, a RS sewing project at the church, and a national book festival at the university- lots of fun choices of things so we'll see what we end up doing.
We are headed to Utah in a week and a half for spring break. Skiing, temple, friends, family, haircut and Dr appts are on the calendar.
We decided last week that we are going to be living in Utah for the summer and then headed back to Tucson again for next fall. Big decisions are tough. No matter what good choice you pick, you lose the good things that the other choice would have brought.

Ash rides her bike!
Bryan outside with Ash, he asks her if she wants to take off her training wheels and she says okay.
In less than a minute she was riding like a champ. (Em & I inside doing science fair & Aaron napping)
The next day she rode the 1 mile to school with the family. She took almost no breaks and when I asked her if she was tired she said that the excitement of biking just kept her going.
Since then she's upgraded to a new helmet- the same design and size as moms. Most Wednesday mornings you can see between 3-5 of us biking our way to school. Way to go Asha!
Science Fair 2012
The first topic she picked was about fairy houses, then it was growing seeds. Finally she settled on What will happen when I blow on different lengths of straws?
It might not look like much, but this represents lots of work and patience. At first she was excited about it, then got way bored yet excited again at the end. The favorite part was where we tested homemade panpipes' pitches on the keyboard.
Next time I think she and I both would vote for the weather project, but are glad for the experience.
