Presenting... baby Aaron Bryan Hanks

We had our little boy on Friday June 5th at 7:02 a.m. Labor started around 11 p.m. on Thurs with contractions 10 minutes apart, at 4:30 a.m. we left for the birth center. I labored in the tub for an hour, then on a birth ball and then had him laying on my side in bed after 13 minutes of pushing. He had the cord wrapped around his neck twice yet was fine once he got out. He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 20." We got home Friday afternoon with mom and baby doing great!

We had my dad come up for 6 days and now have my mom until the end of June. We are so blessed with family, friends and neighbors who all show so much love and support as we celebrate and welcome our newest addition.
The girls had one rough day of transition but are doing so great. Ashley especially is such a little mom- helping with diapers, getting clothes, etc. The girls started swimming lessons and will go for the month of June. On Sunday Emily learned how to put her hair into a pony-tail all by herself. Tonight Ashley learned how to spit toothpaste instead of swallowing it. We are having a great causes to celebrate!

Preschool Graduation

Joyschool Preschool Graduation happened Thursday night.  The girls looked great in their caps and sang beautiful 3 songs.

Bryan taught Joyschool one day.  Here he is reading to the kids.   Emily drew a picture of a fire-ant- complete with jaws, eyeball, legs, body and bottom.  Here is me 37 weeks pregnant.  Ashley and I colored a picture of a family in a house.

The countdown is less than 2 weeks- we love you baby!

Front Yard Flowers

Emily took these pictures of the flowers that are in our front yard.  We did not plant them, just get to enjoy them every spring and summer.  We also are growing strawberries and Emily has eaten 20+ berries so far.  Emily says, "I love plants!"

Baby is Coming

June 13th is my due date, today is May 25th.  I am 37 weeks, 2 days pregnant.  Actual expected arrival of baby is a few days before the 13th, so we are looking at 2 weeks until baby boy.  No we do not have a name picked out yet. Don't bug us we're working on it and will tell you when we have one.
We are refinishing our hardwood floor this week and will be gone from our house for several days.  A bit beastly.

April Showers

The 3 ladies reading a bedtime story (Potato Man). We have been working on finishing painting the girls' room and cleaning out the garage.
Tomorrow is our 7th wedding anniversary!  We will be celebrating with an anniversary party FHE- bowling and ice cream.  Bryan spoke in church today and did a great job.  This week I am getting a pedicure and going the temple.  We also went out Saturday night to Cafe Rio and then hiked the 'B,' which anyone who has been to there will laugh.
I am 33 weeks along, so 7 more to go.  Projects still to do include painting the baby room and finding a baby name.   In prep for baby we got a new van- 2006 Honda Odyssey.  Emily says it's dark blue/black/gray.  My favorite part is the automatic opening side doors- I feel so luxurious with my magic clicker.

Easter

We enjoyed beautiful weather today for Easter Sunday.  We gave the girls flower seeds potted in ceramic Easter eggs which they loved.  We had lots of beautiful messages of Christ's resurrection at church.  Then we had the Fosters over for Easter dinner and did an Easter egg hunt.  The girls loved their ring pops which turned their mouths dark blue.  Fun and cute.  Here they are in our front yard with our gorgeous spring time flowers!
The girls got 'Chinese' dresses from their Grandpa Hanks who went on a business trip to Singapore.   They loved learning about another culture and practicing bowing.  Emily totally got into it and spoke Chinese, got out the chopsticks and wore a golden necklace as a crown all morning.

For Ashley's birthday they got some bathtub crayons from Grammy.  There are smiles drawn on their backs.   They giggled during the whole bath.

On good Friday I got to sing in an Easter choir.  The music was written from the perspective of Christ's disciples.  There were songs from the point of view Peter, three people who got healed, Mary & Martha watching Lazarus, the disciples before and after his death.  The experience was awesome- the music so uplifting and I loved singing in a choir again.  I love too that the music is in my head so I keep singing messages about Christ.
